Linguaskill Test

The Cambridge Linguaskill tests are innovative assessments that measure English proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL), scaling from level A1 to C1+.

3 combinable modules are available :

● Written and oral comprehension

● Written expression

● Verbal expression

1. Written and oral comprehension

The written and oral comprehension module (Reading and Listening) is adaptive. This means that the difficulty of the questions increases or decreases depending on the candidate’s answers, until Linguaskill has enough information to identify his or her level with certainty. Consequently, the number of questions on the test is not fixed and lasts between 60 and 85 minutes.

The results of the reading and listening module are available immediately after the test.

2. Written expression

For the written expression module (Writing), candidates use a computer keyboard.

Scoring is done automatically by the computer. The test lasts 45 minutes and the results are available within 12 hours.

The test consists of two parts:

● Write an email of at least 50 words on a given subject.

● Write a text of at least 180 words on a given topic

Each part represents 50% of the final grade.

3. Verbal expression

The oral expression module (Speaking) takes place on a computer with a headset. Questions are displayed on the screen, and the candidate’s answers are recorded and later evaluated by examiners. The examination takes 15 minutes and results are available within 48 hours.

The oral expression module consists of five parts:

● Answer 8 questions about yourself,

● Read 8 sentences aloud,

● Speak for 1 minute on a given topic (40seconds of preparation),

● Talk about one or more graphs for 1 minute (1 minute of preparation),

● Give your opinion in the form of short answers to 5 questions on the same topic (1 minute of preparation)

Each part represents 20% of the final grade.
